Mythic Images

 

Mythic Images is a series of drawings and oil paintings in which I reimagine friends and fellow artists as mythic gods and goddesses from ancient Greece and Egypt. Through this process, personal and ephemeral figures are linked with collective and enduring ones as a means of exploring the intersection of ancient mythology and contemporary life. The results are hybrid images that juxtapose ancient deities with recent natural disasters, or upturn a myth about Venus and conventions of beauty. The works in this exhibit invite the viewer to question the dividing lines between mythology and reality, history and the present.
